Goals for France Update

We now bring you back to your normally scheduled Jackie blog program. I thought I'd do a little update on my 'goals for France' list, to see what I can check off, what I still want to do, and what I want to add on. My edits (and anything staying on the list) are in pink.

  1. Go back to Notre Dame de Paris. P
  2. See the Parisian catacombs.
  3. Absorb more art by visiting some of France's many wonderful museums. This is one I've been semi-good at. I think what this goal needs is to be more specific. I want to go see the Louvre again, the Musee Cluny, and the Musee des Arts et Metiers (although this one's sort of a cheat: it's a science museum).
  4. See the Normandy beaches. P
  5. Visit Chambord. P
  6. Learn to make crepes like a French person.  This just isn't happening. I'm going to settle for eating lots and lots of crepes.
  7. Become fluent, really fluent in French. Working on it.
  8. Go to a soccer game, a real one, with people who care.
  9. Get my groceries from a farmer's market and go make something awesome with it. Well, sort of.
  10. Go to a used bookstore, get some french books, and then spend an afternoon reading them. PP
  11. Visit Chateau Falaise. P
  12. Go to England.  Thinking I'm going to make this happen, but not until it's a little warmer. I have no desire to visit England in winter.
  13. Eat a lot of cheese. P
  14. Eat a lot of chocolate, specifically Kinderbars. P
  15. Eat a lot of bread. P
  16. Take pictures of Cocky, and the sash (not necessarily together) at various locations. Well, I have a picture of Cocky, and like one or two pictures of the sash, but I definitely need to get better at both of these.
New arrivals to the list:

  1. Contribute to crossword puzzleI don't care that I've already done it; it goes on the list anyway.
  2. See the Chateaux de Chantilly and Fontainebleau
  3. Possibly Chateau Beaumesnil; it looks a little difficult to reach but it could be nice. Chateau Balleroy falls in this category too.
  4. See the cliffs of Etretat. This one is kind of tricky in that it's not a quick trip, though it should be. It's not the distance, it's that you have to take a very indirect route there. So this one's still in the works.
  5. See the cathedrals of Chartres, Bourges, Rouen, and Amiens.
  6. Go back to Mont St. Michel during the spring equinox super high tides.
  7. Go back to Falaise after they finish their renovations.
  8. Soak in France.

  1. This is probably a stupid question, but what does the 'P' stand for?

    1. The P's are actually little checkmarks. I thought I would be clever and copy and paste them from Word...unfortunately my cleverness did not foresee that other people's computers would translate wingdings into regular font.
